Woman's voice: "Hi. As a preferred credit card holder, we may be able to offer you a lower interest rate on your credit card. This is a limited time offer, so please press one to see if you qualify. Or press two to be removed from the list. Thank you."

Why would an anonymous "preferred credit card holder" be able to offer me a lower interest rate on my credit card?

New voice. Same scam.

It then got cut off by the answering machine's message limit. I don't know how many times it would have repeated before cutting off on its own.

This is a scam. A previous time when this recording called, I pressed one and talked to a man who spewed a bunch of lies. This recording is also a bunch of lies. "Third attempt" and "final chance". Bullshit.

Mar 11: Recording of crap from the "National Campaign to Restore Morals and Values"

"...ups(?). This is a very important message from the National Campaign to Restore Morals and Values. 1-877-266-6277. Would you like to know how many violent sex offenders live in your surrounding area? Would you also like to know what they look like, their names, what crimes they've committed against children? Press one now. Did you know that one in five girls and one in six boys will be molested before their eighteenth birthday? Please press one now to help. These statistics, as shocking and disturbing as they are, represent the reality that American children face today. Please press one to comment now."

The beginning of the recording was spewed before the answering machine started recording, so I don't know what additional crap was part of that call. If this type of crap is permitted by the Do Not Call List legislation, then the DNC legislation is pretty lame.

Ok. According to the Wikipedia article, this is a deceptive telemarketing scam, and the beginning of the recording is probably "Please don't hang up." Also, the "National Campaign to Restore Morals and Values" is a phone company that is violating the DNC legislation.

Mar 11: Recording of "Loan Services" scam

There was recording of a woman's voice talking about some mortgage scam. I pressed one.

A man answered with "Loan Services". The recording did not mention "Loan Services".

He would not give an address or phone number for "Loan Services", and said he was at a call center and would transfer me to their "agents" after I gave them some information. I didn't want to give them any information. He would not identify the "agents" and said that there were several. He did say that the call center was in California. I should have asked to talk to someone with more information than a lackey working at a job that deliberately wastes peoples' time. Here's one thing he said twice: "I don't sit around wasting peoples' time when they're at work." Bullshit.

Mar 7: Recording of "this is the second notice" vehicle warranty scam

Woman's voice: "This is the second notice that a factory warranty on your vehicle has expired, and should be reactivated to protect you against the high cost of repairs. If you have not responded to this notification, it is not too late. Please do not make the mistake of driving without a warranty. You are still eligible to reactivate your warranty coverage. This is the final call before we close your file. Press two to be removed from the list. Press one to speak with a representative now about your warranty coverage."

This is a pack of lies, and must be a scam.

Mar 7: Recording of Cancun vacation scam from "Sandy Beckman"
