Feb 28: Anonymous harassment

My phone number must be on some shit list.

Yesterday, Feb 27, someone was calling almost every five minutes, with only telemarketer background noise, right until just before 9pm.

Today, there were over 40 messages on my answering machine, left over about three and a half hours, containing only telemarketer background noise.

Feb 27: Recording of David from "your mortgage division"

This fraudulent recording has called Feb 27.

"Hi, this is David calling from your mortgage division. And it's very important that I reach you today in order to finish your request for the 1.25% interest rate on the 30 year loan. Uh, please press one now to speak with your mortgage representative. Or press two now to be removed."

"Your mortgage division"? "Your request for the ... loan"? This message is such a fraud. I don't have any mortgage division that I know of, and have never made any request for a 1.25% interest rate on a 30 year loan.

Feb 24: Recording for anonymous digital tv service

"Hey, how ya doin'? Right now I'm in your area, and I'm offering a new... digital... tv service. For less than a dollar a day.
Uh, with that, I can offer... star super pack, free for three months. And also include... a ddr(sic). That's a digital video recording system? It's pretty cool. You can pause, rewind, fast-forward live tv. Um. With this, I'm also going to be to come) out there... and install everything for free. So it's all free. So press one now, and I'll tell you more about it. And if you do press one, I can also offer a hundred dollars off your bill. Press one... and we'll talk about it. And if you want to be taken off the list, press nine. Thanks."

I wonder how many digital tv and satellite tv systems there are. There certainly are a number of telemarketer recordings for them that don't say who they are. So, for all I know, they could all be for the same service, or for a number of different ones. Not that I really care. I'm not buying telemarketed crap.

Feb 21: Answering machine spam: Recording of Jane with "the financial department"

It's been almost two weeks since the last recording called my answering machine. There have been plenty of live telemarketers that left messages and either live or automated telemarketers that left hangup messages, including two today. Due to having the answering machine, I've stopped answering the phone unless I hear someone I recognize. All too often, it's telemarketers that call. Unfortunately, the prerecorded telemarketer messages haven't gone away. Perhaps my phone number rotated out of the telemarketer lists briefly.

This recording has called Jan 11, 25 and Feb 21. An almost identical recording of "Michelle" with "the mortgage department" called on on Oct 6, 19, Nov 7, 8, 11, twice on Nov 14, and Dec 8 and 20, as well as on Nov 4 with "the financial department". A very similar recording of "Brittany" called on Dec 19. A very similar recording of "Jennifer" with "the financial department" called Dec 5.

There were also calls from "William Harrison" from "the financial department" on Sept 2, 6, 20, 21, 22, 29, Oct 12, 13, 25, 28, Nov 1, 10, and 14.

"Hi. This is Jane with the financial department. Based on your current payment history, we have preapproved you for a new interest rate, as low at 1%. APR 5.68. Your confirmation number is 000000. To take advantage of the lowest rates in the state of California, with absolutely no points and no fees, press number the 1 key now. Or press 2 to be removed from the marketing list."

Feb 9: Answering machine spam: Numerous anonymous telemarketers

There have been numerous hangups and telemarketers saying nothing but hello that I have not logged in the past month.

If you followed our LAST stock profile and invested early, you would have realized short-term gain IN excess of 250%. AGAIN, please look in your mailbox for our next huge gainer ticker symbol DPDM. Deep Blue Marine Incorporated."

Sounds like a pump and dump scam.

Feb 7: Recording of John with "COURTESY" call from anonymous company

This recording has called on Feb 7. An almost identical recording called Nov 16, 23, Dec 13, 15, Jan 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 14, 17, and 19. An almost identical recording of Shawn called Nov 10. A similar anonymous recording called Jan 11.

"Hello. My name is John and this is a COURTESY call to let you know that FANNY Mae has recently EXPANDED their underwriting guidelines to allow MORE people to qualify for LOW interest rate home loans. With interest rates as low as they are, this means if you have good credit, LESS than perfect credit, or even a recent BANKRUPTCY, we can HELP. If you would LIKE a free rate quote, please press 1 to connect to a home loan specialist. Again, please press 1 for a no obligation rate quote."

This asshole rerecorded his message to make pressing 3 to be added to the do not call list instead of 2. I guess they are making a new do not call list, and this new recording will land in my answering machine like a disgusting turd every few days once they cycle through list again. Maybe they think they'll fool people who'll press 2 thinking that that will get them added to the do not call list. Maybe they think fooling people into pressing the wrong number to be added to the do not call list will trick them into getting a loan through them. Maybe there are actually people who are that stupid.

Feb 7: Answering machine spam: Recording of Rachel at "cardholder services"

Feb 6: Answering machine spam: Recording of Tom with Pacific Mortgage

This recording has called Nov 21 and Feb 6.

"Oh hi. This is Tom with Pacific Mortgage. Uh, sorry I missed you. I'm calling today because, according to public RECORDS, you're currently paying on a mortgage that was taken out when rates were much HIGHER than they are right NOW. So, based on the information I HAVE, you ARE someone that we think we can greatly HELP, especially in lowering your monthly PAYMENT. At the very least, I guarantee that I DO have vital information to SHARE with you. I'm sorry we missed each other, so please give me a call toll free at 1-877-611-6663 by 8pm either today or tomorrow. And also by acting now, you MAY be able to skip your NEXT TWO mortgage payments. I look forward to hearing back from you soon. Again, this is Tom, and my number is 1-877-611-6663."

By 8pm either today or tomorrow? When an identical recording called Nov 21? Why does the call have to be by 8pm today or tomorrow when this recording is being spewed out multiple times? If there really is "vital information", maybe I should call and ask for it. From a pay phone. In some large airport. Months or years from now. Especially if this recording calls again.

"Cheat 'em Mutual Bank, calling to remind..."

What the fuck?

Feb 1: Answering machine spam: Anonymous woman

Feb 1: Answering machine spam: Recording of anonymous woman saying goodbye

This recording also called Jan 29, but I didn't log it.

This recording has called Jan 29 and Feb 1.

Why the fuck do they have to do this shit? If there is no answer, why the fuck are they calling again? Why do they leave these pointless messages on the answering machine? Why the fuck don't they identify themselves?
