Jan 31: "Hold the line please, I have a call for this number" recording, probably for a scam

Jan 28: "Hold the line please, I have a call for this number" recording

"Hold the line please, I have a call for this number."

A foreign sounding male voice said, "Hello."

I said, "Who are you?"

The voice said, "Can I speak to so and so please?"

I said, "Who are you?"

He hung up on me. If they aren't a scam, why would they refuse to identify themselves?

I just got it too. Heard the message, then a pause... and I'm thinking- A payphone collect caller via automated operator? Nah - not enough identification, nor acceptance of 'yes or no' on my part. Then I thought scam to connect me to another long distance party. Yup, to longdistance telemarketer im sure. [click!]

I just got a call with the same recording. I don't trust messages like that, so I hung up straight away. Anything that asks you to hold when you haven't phoned them, and you haven't spoken to anybody yet, is almost certainly a scam.

I just got call like that now, but I was suspicious since i don't give that number out to anybody (I use my cellphone, the telephone line only exists cause I'm forced to pay for it along side my DSL). I hang up though.
