Jan 21: Recording of scam from "Heather" at "account services"

"Hello. This is Heather at account services. And we're calling in reference to your current credit card account. There's no problems currently with your account. It is urgent however that you contact us concerning your eligibility for lowering your interest rate. Your eligibility expires shortly. So please consider this your final notice. Please press one now on your phone to speak with a live operator and lower your interest rate. Or press two to discontinue further notices. Thank you and have a great day."

I wonder why they keep cutting out and adding back in the "to as little as six point nine percent."

"Heather" really gets around for being a lumpy-assed slob who sits on the sofa calling people to con them out of their credit card #'s, doesn't she? After realizing that pressing 2 to remove my number does nothing, I have started pressing 1 to speak to a "live", actually rather brain-dead representative to tell them to remove my #. One time I let the phone ring for 1 1/2 minutes before some trogladyte of a woman answered the phone very angrily. I reminded her that she was the one who called me and if neither of us were happy about it, perhaps she should stop. She didn't like my tone and slammed down the phone. Sometimes the call is from 1-850-475-5122, an inactive # in Pensacola, Fla. Other times it is scrambled. The FCC won't do anything b/c I am not a psychic and cannot provide any more info than I have already. When will the FCC, FTC, or FBI do something about this? "Heather" is obviously a national problem.

I'm in Michigan. I just got an automated message call by "account services". I decided to press "1", then had to wait several minutes before the call was answered.

A man fianlly answered and I immediately asked for details about MY ACCOUNT, to which he said his company had no information. I then asked him if there was a previous business connection between us, and he said, "have a nice day and hung up."

Since *69 doesn't work to tell me who called, I now have to wait until my next phone bill comes, (which for some reason WILL show the number and time) THEN I can file a telemarketing

Like the other people here, I too have gotten this very same call before many times. Within this automatic phone call message it states “Your eligibility expires shortly. So please consider this your final notice.” Well, if this call was on the up and up of being legit? Then they would have expired this so called eligibility and make it a true final notice and not bother calling me ever again. Yet, they continue to call me, which shows the evidential fact the call is most likely a scam.

I have read other people online post about contacting the FCC or FTC about such phone call scams. Obviously if these people are continuing such phone scams, then the US Federal government has not done anything about it to this very day.

If you’re a head strong I am not going to take this anymore type of person, and a risk taker to get things done. Then here is suggestions below if you are brave enough to go through with it.
(Note: I am not telling you to do this, this is just an idea I came up with.)

----------------------------------------------------------
If “account services” ever calls again, then do this below.

Press 1 to get the scam artist representative.

Tell the person I am not interested in lowering my interest rate, but my friend is.

His number is area code 202 number 418-1000.
----------------------------------------------------------

Note: The phone that is mentioned here (202-418-1000) is a public number for US Citizens to contact the FCC Chairman Kevin J. Martin who was nominated for a first and second term as commissioner and FCC chairman by President George W. Bush.

Fact: The US Government stated by the Great President Abraham Lincoln who stated “A Government for the People and by the People” to me means a government to serve the peoples will.

If the US Government feels different from what I stated here, then they should break all means of contact through media, phone, or internet with the US citizens and put a US Dictator in charge of the nation and destroy democracy.

They've been calling me every few months for more than a year. Lately, I've been playing a new game: see how long I can keep them on the phone. My record is about 20 minutes. Can you do better?

Here's how to play:

- Say you have lots of debt
- Say you have high interest rates
- Speak very, very slowly
- Pretend you're hard of hearing
- Act confused
- Don't give up any information
- Put them on hold "to find your bill"
- Randomly inject small talk (sports, current events)

When you get bored, say you have low interest rates and no credit card debt, and you were just f_cking with them to see how long you could keep them from bothering other people.

I've come up with my own obnoxious response to their obnoxious calls. I press 1 for a "live operator" (and they ARE operators), and then when the person finally answers I blow a VERY loud whistle directly into the phone. I figure they're all wearing headsets, and maybe it'll freak a few of them out enough to quit their job. If a lot of people started doing this, I bet they'd start loosing their scam artists pretty quickly. If nothing else, they're going to start loosing their hearing pretty fast if they keep getting blasted by whistles.

I've been getting calls for a couple years now, and I've tried pushing the option to be removed from the list, and telling them directly that I'm on the no call list and want to be removed. And I've reported them over and over and over to both the state and federal no call lists. What's the point of even having the no call lists if this can go on for TWO YEARS! And how many people have they ripped off and ruined!

Heather's been calling me for a few months. The calls come from different numbers each time, and I think all the numbers are fake. Here are some of the numbers and names on my caller ID for these calls:

208-865-3451 (unavailable)
207-402-0235 (unavailable)
305-654-1842 (Lawrence Sandri)
305-758-9297 (MIAMI FL)

Once I pressed "1" and asked them not to call me again, and the person told me that it takes 90 days to remove a name from their list. I said I'd complain to the FTC if I got another call, and she said, "I really don't care."

Another time I asked what company the person was with, and he hung up.

from Speedy OK folks your all being way to nice.
I highly suggest we all play then as hard as we can.
These people want to steel from you. make no mistake about it. Press #1 get some one on the phone. Put your phone on speaker if you have it, It's louder that way.
Lead them on with false information. Keep them on line while you find your police whistle or walk over to a smoke detector. Are you all with me so fare. Finely let them have it. This causes real pain to the ear and
makes them think twice about what there doing, my be calling you again. Play rough because they need it. Speedy

Do they call all over the U.S.? I have been getting calls for at least a year and live near Dallas, TX.

I would love to file a law suit against them (I just graduated from law school and could use the practice), but I don't know who is behind "Account Services". I can't get anywhere with them when I press one. They always hang up on me when I am asking for their phone number or complaining about the number of times they call. Once when I asked for their phone number, the woman said "you're a player." That's when I lost it (one of the times I lost it).

The second to last time I got a call, I asked the woman if she knew that what she was doing was illegal. She said she didn't know if it was or not and that she just started working there. She sounded nice, so I wasn't as rude as I usually am to them. I wonder how much the operator's actually know about their own company.

Thanks for letting me rant.

I called Qwest (my local phone service) and told them about this problem. They said because I live in the state of AZ I can put a no solicitation service on my phone. The way it works is when a telemarketer calls there is a message that says the number you are calling does not accept calls from solicitors. If you are not a solicitor press 1 to continue. Most Telemarketers use an automated dialer and it can’t press 1 so the call wont go thru. I guess you need to decide if the 6.95 monthly fee is worth it.

The entertainment value of Heather and her friends can be loads of fun..

When they call, press 1 and talk in a fake voice. Not TOO fake, just enough.. When they ask your name, make up one. A female friend used Di-Aria as one, although saying it outloud a few times will sound a bit familar..

Next, tell them you owe LOADS of credit card debt, $20-30k..

Work your way thru the call, slowly and keep asking them to repeat themselves.

When they ask for the phone # on the back of the card, try (800)356-9377, which is 1800 Flowers..!

For a credit card #, use any made up number.. of course when they call, they'll know it's fake.

The other trick is when they ask for your CC #, tell them you need to get your wallet, put them on mute so you can hear them getting pissed at you.. ! excellent for a party and you can bet on how long they'll wait. Everyone puts in $5.00 on 1-2-3 min etc and time them to see how long they wait.. I had one guy wait over 12 minutes.!

Have fun with em..

this is the new address for the call center that has been making all the illegal robo calls to you people..
1642 west airport blvd in Sanford Florida. Google that address and the map will display the location. the phone number is 1 888 356 6357. you should get a message to speak with someone in human resources. This is a huge illegal robo dialing call center that has been in business for awhile. most of the posts on this site im certain are because of this particular organization originally operating in Tampa then moved to primera blvd in lake Mary Florida now they are located in Sanford FL. Its easy to get all the info you need to these people. all you have to do is cooperate and give them your cc number. They cant charge you until you consent. Thats the only way they can for certain take your money. they will eventually give you all the info you need if you talk to a "closer" I did some digging and found out that a Blake Curtis owns and runs this entire operation. see this link here: http://forums.hmoob.com/showthread.php?t=71434
they are calling Canada now instead of the united states most likely to dodge any legalities. I've investigated fully and What they do is have about 60 unlicensed people to answer phones that this call center robot dials out all across the country. if you press 1 you'll get any one of these commission payed reps. pressing 2 does nothing. the reps are average nobody's that they hire off the street with no real qualifications and will talk you into giving up your credit card number and they will verify if you have debt and if you have availability on your visa or mc by calling your lender. if you have availability on your credit card they will hand over the deal sheet to a closer "financial adviser" notice the quotes, who is nothing more than some guy or girl unlicensed and has no official title or education to be an adviser. just some random people that are hired within to close the deal so they make a killing in commission off of you. All the employees are on a commission based pay scale where I'm sure they are required to make a weekly quota in sales. then you go to a verification where you agree on a recording to let them charge your card for these ridiculous bull crap services. then you eventually get scheduled to talk to a financial adviser who again is nothing more than some other random employee in the call center who will call the bank and try to lower your cc interest rates with you on the phone. All of this is scripted and each person is trained to take you through the Bull crap process. The banks will do nothing of the sort like the closers promise you who got you scheduled to get you to sign up for these services in the first place. at best you will get your rate reduced by a couple of percents but its not permanent by any means. the best they do is transfer balance and get you a 0 percent APR with a Citibank visa or discover card for 3-6 months. all of which you can do yourself. then they will try to talk you into consolidation or debt settlement. meanwhile you just payed anywhere from $690 to $1990 on your credit card and are now screwed to ever get that back. you cant back out of it. you will not get your money back. the only way to get your money back is to threaten the company that you had a dispute with your lender in regards to these services. but you only have 3 days in which to claim that legally. They will show you on an analysis that you helped provide them that you can save money if you pay off one debt and then use what you were paying on the previous debt to put towards your other bills etc etc till everything is payed off. just for that little bit of common sense knowledge is how they are charging you money. the website they provide http://www.myunitedfinancial.org they claim to be based in San Francisco California. the number they give is 1 800 672 1771

The thing to do is to waste as much of their time as possible without wasting yours. Pretend interest, and tell them you have to go get your credit card. After you have wasted as much of their time as possible, tell them you did it and, if they don't want it to happen again, to never call you again.
