Answering machine

I finally got an answering machine.

On its first day: two hangups. Two telemarkers that thought they would be talking to someone. "Hello? Hello?" And one recorded message about cable television or satellite television or something.

Whenever I get a call from a recorded message, I press 1. That usually gets me put on hold. I then put the phone down until the phone-off-the-hook noise tells me to hang it up. So, I'm thinking that perhaps putting a 1 tone in the answering machine greeting would cause these recorded message phone spammers to kick it over to human telemarketer.
