Jun 6: Recording of "don't be alarmed" scam

Woman's voice: "Don't be alarmed. But this is your final notice for lower interest rates on your current account. This offer expires today. Press one and speak to your account manager to reduce your rate. Again, press one now. This is the last offer of the season. Or press two to discontinue further notices. Thank you and have a great day."

"this is your final notice" and "press two to discontinue further notices"? There's some disconnect there. But then again, this is a scam.

I've gotten this call multiple ties on my land line in 718 area code (which is on the do not call list) and today 8/13 2:55 EDT on my cell phone, which has a 617 area code. Number is unreturnable (506-220-11495)

Just had this phone call again. Of course.... no caller ID showed.
Our phone number is not listed, only friends and family have it, it has never been used to sign up for anything and I had it registered at the DNC in March this year, yet I keep receiving these phone calls.. very annoying!
Today I pinched the #1 and waited for the representative to finish her greeting and asking me if she could verify my credentials.
I told her: sure ma'am, just let me verify your credentials first.
She started stuttering, telling me she didn't understand my question. I told her point blank that what she's doing is against the law because I am on the DNC list. At the point where I said "against the law" she found herself again and told me "you should get out of bed more often and go back to school" and hung up on me.
I am flabbergasted at the rudeness and stubbornness of these people and I am open to ANY suggestion to have this number removed from their lists.

I just got this message and pressed #1. I asked James what company he was calling from and he said "Financial Services". I then asked what their phone number is and he hung up. Number on caller ID was 506-226-73899.

There are many companys using autodialers to pitch their credit card scam. If the company making the call is from Atlanta, chances are good it is Versadebt.

These are outright crooks and the law is catching up to them. They have changed their tactics. If you got a representative on the phone, they used to tell you their company name and location. Now, they will only tell you "Account Services" or "Financial Services."

The way to deal with these people is to report them to the FCC, the FTC, and your state Attorney General.

In order to report them, you need to find out who is calling. Initially, they will refuse to give you any identifing information about their company. If you can pretend to be interested in their services, you may be able to extract what you need for your report to the authorities.

If the company calling you is Versadebt, here is how you can find them:
Versadebt Corp.
4501 Circle 75 Parkway
Suite #A-1225
Atlanta GA 30339
678-238-1300
678-238-1349
678-238-1351

The company owner is Marvin Cox, Jr. He moved the company from Florida where it was located in Almonte Springs.

To illustrate how shady this company is, look at this link.
There is at least one Attorney General on their tail:
http://ago.mo.gov/newsreleases/2008/TRO_again ... all_violations/

Here are the links to file complaints with the Federal Government:
FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION!
http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm

FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION:
https://donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx

You will have to lookup your state Attorney General complaint site.

Here is another way to go after these telemarketers. If you are receiving many auto dialed robo calls (which are illegal, especially to cell phones), you can perform a call trace by dialing *57 after every call.

Once you have built up several traces, call your phone companies "unlawful call center." For example, if you use Verizon, you can call 877-872-2348. Once you get a representative on the phone, they will instruct you to contact your local police department to file a harrasement complaint. Verizon will also ask you to report back to them with your case number and police officer contact information. This is for them to release the call trace information. They are not allowed to release this to you.

Nice thing about the call trace is that these telemarketers use spoofed caller Id numbers so you do not know who they are. Call trace exposes their true phone number and identity!

They are still at it, 8/26/2008, 2 p.m. MST. I pressed 1 and asked what company was calling my number. "Customer Services" a guy answered. Then demanded "DID YOU press 1 to lower your interest rate?" "Before I answer, how do I know if you are legitimate?" His response, "ANSWER MY Question, Asshole, or I'm going to hang up." I hung up. Who are these jerks?

I just got the same call 11:43 on Aug 27, 08 that starts with the womans voice "don't be alarmed..." and mentioned this call was about MY ACCOUNT, since I got this call several times already, I dialed the "1" to see who it is. I asked "is this my bank?" A lady said
no Ma'm, this is account services. So I asked nicely, "could you please take my number off your calling list", she said "we didn't call you." So I realized that's their way around not legally having to take you off their list- she said "didn't you dial one?" and she got up an attitude with me... so I was bad...I screamed at her as she was talking over me..."take me off your list!" and hung up. I did the trace but a recording said the trace could not be performed because the number is unavailable. Next time I will pretend to be interested and see how far I can get with this stupid game. -Annoyed in Bayshore, NY

Those SOBs badger me at least weekly with those junk calls. They infuriate me to the point of shouting at them to SHUT UP while I tell them they are in violation of the Do Not Call registry (which they loudly deny, of course). They are obviously used to being screamed at, though, and hang up after throwing a few of their own insults.

I hope the lot of them burn in h e l l for eternity.

Just got a robocall ON MY CELL PHONE. Ugh...

Do we know if this is the same company or multiple companies using the same service?

My cell phone service is through Sprint and *57 (or *69 or anything like it) does not appear to work.

Just got the same call this morning. I've tried twice now to talk to a person, I've tried about 4 times to push 2 to stop the calls. Nothing works. This morning I asked "Heather" for her company name, and she said "Consumer services." I asked her to talk to a manager...she said they were all on the phone, but I could hold. As soon as she put me on hold, the call disconnected. It's SO INFURIATING! Has anyone found a solution to this?

I've gotten many of these calls. One was on Aug. 19, 2008. I pretended to be very interested and gave them some phony information about my credit card debt and interest rate. Eventually I asked what company I would be dealing with. The caller told me the company was KEEMA Debt Solutions and their telephone # was 866-533-0692. I hung up and dialed that number and it was indeed KEEMA. I reported the call to the National Do-Not-Call Registry. If you get one of these calls I suggest you stay on the line and make it sound like you're going to accept the offer until you get enough info to report them.

I press 1 and put the phone down. Waste their time and phone resourcses.... The other day I had "The Godfather" on tv turned up...I could hear voices, and they eventually hung up.

I get this almost daily.

The first time I got this I pressed 1 and immediately asked for her supervisor. I heard her asking out loud over the boiler-room buzz, "Who wants to be a supervisor? ... Anybody? Ok." Then she said to me that her supervisor was out or something. I said "You must be kidding" and then she got indignant and wanted to argue with me.

Another time I just asked immediately where the company was located, and they hung up.

I'm getting these calls about every three days now & it's been going on for months. I've absolutely had it with this scum, I hope somebody can track them down physically and maybe, oh.... throw them under a bus!

Thanks to the poster who listed the info on Versadebt. I've just filed complaints about them with the FCC and FTC.

Next time they call I'll throw their own info back at them just to see what they say. I have NO problem testifying against these scumbags in Federal Court should they ever be convicted.

Keema Debt was formerly known as Green Tree Financial. Right now they have a telephone number of 800-533-0692. Last year, under Green Tree, they had a number of 866-900-5213. Either the government, local or federal, protect us from these parasites of society or "we the people" should stand up and protect ourselves.

They've been harassing me as well. Yesterday, when I hit "1" to talk to someone, I pointed out I was on the Do Not Call list. The woman responded, "Well good for you, I'll call you all I want anyway" then hung up. Bastages!

I get their automated calls at least 3 times a week. Today, so far, they have called twice. I always press 1 and when I get a live operator I scream a profanity at the top of my lungs to hurt their ears and startle them.

I finally got them! They have called for over a year on numbers that cant be called back. They say they are card services and we qualify for 6.9% then want our card info. Every time I try to find out who they are, they hang up. Well today a younger telemarketer gave me their name Keema Debt Solutions. They called my do not call registered number and have been turned in.

I get calls from them weekly. Today a live person called me directly and said he was from "Financial Services" and told me that the Credit Bureaus had reported to them that I owed a certain amount on my credit cards and that I therefore qualified to have them "negotiate lower fees" with my credit card companies. In an effort to get some information on who these guys are, I asked him if I could contact him if I am not able to pay off my balance and need my rate re-negotiated. He gave me his name: John Hall (sounds fake to me) and his phone number: 866-355-5836.

Interestingly enough, he said that if a credit card balance exceeds $4k they do the negotiation for you for free. It all sounds very fishy to me and I'm sure people have been scammed. These guys need to be reported and stopped. Use the number above to report them as much as you can.
